   Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking was chosen by SWA members worldwide as the 2007 SWA annual International Convention issue through online voting in earlier this year. Of the twelve topics proposed for this year’s International Convention, Human Trafficking received an overwhelming 40 % of all your votes. Please click here to see the election results.

This issue is of such incredible importance in today’s world where modern-day slavery, the sex trade, and child soldiers are still frequent and under-reported occurrences in almost every part of the world. We solicit you, as a SWA member, to take a stand against Human Trafficking, whether it is individually or through your chapter, and join SWA’s 2007 campaign to
“End Human Trafficking Now.”

This page will provide you with a preliminary list of educational links, articles, and organizations related to Human Trafficking. Please click here to access Human Trafficking resources.

You can also “Take Action” by holding events in your local communities and schools to bring awareness about and generate engagement for Human Trafficking. The SWA has created an easy, step-by-step Action Toolkit to assist you through the process of organizing events, and contributing to our global effort to end human trafficking. Please click here to view the Human Trafficking Action Toolkit.

You can “Participate” by joining in on the conversation on Human Trafficking with other SWA members around the world. Please click here to post a comment on the discussion forum.

The 2007 SWA International Convention is hosted by the SWA University of Ghana Chapter in Accra, Ghana and will highlight the important issue of Human Trafficking. Participants at the 3 days convention will engage this issue through workshops, lectures, panel discussions and fun-filled activities.
